BioRights
An international initiative to create a financial system which will pay people to protect their natural resources and to develop sustainable ways of using them. Seems primarily concerned with wetlands and peatlands and has three demonstration sites in Costa Rica, Mali and Indonesia.

Non-profit organisation based in USA using science, economics, policy and community involvement to promote biodiversity conservation in rain forests and other endangered ecosystems.

Fauna & Flora

Fauna & Flora International is the world's longest established international conservation body, founded 100 years ago. Renowned for its science-based approach, FFI has pioneered sustainable conservation work that tackles problems holistically, providing solutions that simultaneously help wildlife, humans and the environment. FFI acts to conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and compatible with human needs. International Mire Conservation Group

IMCG is an international network of specialists who internationally promote, encourage and, where appropriate, co-ordinate the conservation of mires and related ecosystems; and internationally enhance the exchange of information and experience relating to mires and factors affecting them. The network encompasses a wide spectrum of expertise and interests, from research scientists to consultants, government agency specialists to peatland site managers and currently has over 400 contacts in almost 60 countries.

Thai Society for Conservation of Wild Animals
Aimed at improving the welfare of animals and preserving natural habitats in Thailand and Laos, TSCWA is a non-governmental organisation operating several projects with teams of local staff and foreign volunteers. Site details activities.

World Conservation Monitoring Centre
UNEP site provides information services on conservation and sustainable use of the earth's living resources, and helps others to develop information systems of their own. Features a collection of conservation databases including species, protected areas, forest, marine and national biodiversity profiles.

Zoological Society of London
A charity devoted to conservation and education. The worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats is the key role of ZSL.
