Peatland Initiative
GPI is a partnership between NGOs, scientists, research
institutes and the private sector that provides a means
to identify, develop and fund projects essential to achieve
the 'wise use' of peatlands globally. GPI’s aim is to foster
national, regional and international partnerships of government,
private sector and non-government agencies to fund and implement
actions in support of such strategies. Lists projects and

International
Mire Conservation Group
IMCG is an international network of specialists who internationally
promote, encourage and, where appropriate, co-ordinate the
conservation of mires and related ecosystems; and internationally
enhance the exchange of information and experience relating
to mires and factors affecting them. The network encompasses
a wide spectrum of expertise and interests, from research
scientists to consultants, government agency specialists
to peatland site managers and currently has over 400 contacts
in almost 60 countries.
Ramsar
Convention
The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971,
is an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework
for national action and international cooperation for the
conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.
There are presently 138 Contracting Parties to the Convention,
with 1368 wetland sites, totaling 120.5 million hectares,
designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands
of International Importance.

and classification, ecology, hydrology, geochemistry, function,
values, management and conservation.
