Ascomycetes and Anamorphs
From the 5th Kingdom, describes the basic features, morphology, importance and the teleomorph life cycle. Clear description and well illustrated.

Australian Fungi
An interactive catalogue that may be searched, browsed alphabetically or by family. Also allows browsing or searching of references. This database is based on Fungi of Australia Volumes 2A and 2B, published by the Australian Biological Resources Study.

Basidiomycetes
Clearing house for research information on the basidiomycete fungi. Includes a list of laboratories focused on the basidiomycota, lists of basidiomycete species, conferences and other events and an index of available genomic information.

Basidiomycetes of the Greater Antilles
Contains a catalogue of tropical fungi found in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and other islands of the Greater and Lesser Antilles. Site includes an illustrated species list, keys to selected taxa, maps, habitat photographs and a list of species by country.

British Mycological Society
BMS provides information for those who are interested to know more about fungi and to professional mycologists. Includes details of the Society's resources and publications.

Dimorphic Basidiomycetes
This site from Portugal provides information about the systematics, ecology, and evolution of basidiomycetous fungi having a yeast stage.
Includes databases, a collection of papers and an online forum.

Freshwater Ascomycetes

Site devoted to fungi in class Euascomycetes that occur in freshwater habitats. It includes general background information about the group, a referenced database listing the ascomycetes reported from freshwater (World Records Database), a series of illustrated profiles of freshwater ascomycete species (Species Monograph), a database of asexual states (anamorphs) reported for freshwater ascomycetes (teleomorphs), a literature database with references cited and a database of mitosporic ascomycetes (exclusive of Ingoldian and aeroaquatic fungi) reported from the substrates on which freshwater ascomycetes occur.

Fungal Genetics Stock Center
University of Missouri resource for the fungal genetics research community and general educational and research organisations. Includes data on neurospora, aspergillus, sordaria, fusarium and nectria collections, cloned genes and gene libraries, meeting and conference announcements, discussion group and bibliographies.

Fungal Genome Resource
A repository of information and services from the University of Georgia to assist the fungal genomics community. Includes physical maps, sequence data, ongoing projects, BLAST search, downloadable sequence data and related links.

Home of the Xylariaceae
Full monographs or revisions for 14 genera, list of accepted genera and list of names. Good thumbnails of images which can be enlarged.

Introduction to the Fungi
Yet another of the excellent plant science sites from Berkeley. Covers a brief introduction and then fossil records, life history and ecology,
systematics and morphology.

Introduction to the Oomycota
UC Berkeley site providing a brief overview of the water molds and downy mildews with links and images.

Macrofungi of Costa Rica
A survey project documenting the diversity, distribution and ecology of agarics and boletes (mushrooms) and other macrofungi associated with neotropical oak forests. Includes alphabetical lists by taxa and family, a macrofungi database, pictures and a map.

MyxoWeb
A virtual field guide, this highly informative and well thought out site covers the structural characteristics of Myxomycetes, publications, history of myxomycetology, images, research,
taxonomy and links. Some taxonomists now
separate these slime moulds from fungi.

New Zealand Fungi
Whether your interest is pathology, systematics, ecology, conservation, or simply browsing, these web pages provide a gateway to a wealth of information on fungi in New Zealand. The pages represent the first publicly accessible output from a five year project to consolidate a number of significant databases maintained by Landcare Research.

Plasmodiophorids
This award winning site from Ohio University provides a good general introduction, general
references, genera, special topics, life cycle and images. Sadly the author has retired and it seems the site will no longer be updated.

Philippine Myxomycetes
Recently established in 2003, this site has
potential to provide useful taxonomic information on slime moulds in S.E. Asia. Currently includes photographs and some descriptions. Could be
improved by the addition of contact details.

The Fifth Kingdom
The oracle for all fungal mycologists, this site
includes 30 chapters or summaries from chapters from the total of 36 contained in this major textbook. Over 800 illustrations or animations are also included

WWW Virtual Library: Mycology
This site summarizes internet resources of interest to mycologists and provides a distributed and comprehensive catalogue of internet resources. Included are directories of mycologists and laboratories, general resources, field guides and inventories, fungi/culture collections, molecular genetics, taxonomy and mushrooms. Also included are teaching aids. Comprehensive
resource and a search facility also provided.

Zoosporic Fungi Online
This site from the US provides a web-based resource of information on zoosporic fungi, an informal group which includes chytrids, oomycetes, labyrinthulids and various other protists. There are links to a glossary defining terms commonly used with zoosporic fungi, a photogallery with pictures of the organisms and a guide on how to isolate and maintain these organisms in culture. There are also links to recent publications on zoosporic fungi, as well as links to other sites.
