The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild
Fauna and Flora is an international agreement between Governments.
Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild

Convention
on Biological Diversity
Established at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the Convention
establishes three main goals: the conservation of biological diversity,
the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable
sharing of the benefits from the use of genetic resources. Comprehensive

Ramsar
Convention
The Convention on Wetlands, signed in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971, is
an intergovernmental treaty which provides the framework for national
action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise
use of wetlands and their resources. There are presently 138 Contracting
Parties to the Convention, with 1368 wetland sites, totaling 120.5
million hectares, designated for inclusion in the Ramsar List of
Wetlands of International Importance.

natural heritage refers to outstanding physical, biological and
geological formations, habitats of threatened species of animals
and plants and areas with scientific, conservation or aesthetic
value.
